CelebrityTweeter.com – lessons from the first three weeks
Some of you may know that I created a site three weeks ago that brings together all the celebrities on Twitter. I think it’s fair to say that things haven’t gone quite as expected.
In the first 21 days this is what has happened:
- the site has now passed the 3,000 unique visitors mark
- journalists are now using my content as research for their own articles on celebrities who twitter
- celebrities and their management are contacting me daily to be added, or to help identify the fake accounts
So, these are some of the good things. But what lessons can we take away from the first three weeks
- you don’t need the Google goodness of Ecademy to generate good listings on Google – the site is on page one of Google.com for nearly all the pages
- simple amendments to the site can increase site traffic – page views went up by over 10% after I added one simple feature that took less than 10 minutes
- invite your audience to engage with your site – users now search Twitter to bring me the celebrities
Whatever your business, I think you can take something from what I’ve done with CelebrityTweeter.com.
1. WordPress is a great content management system and shouldn’t just be thought of as a blogging platform.
2. Think like your target audience, imagine their needs and wants.
3. Try new things, if it works, carry on doing it, if not, move onto the next option.
But most importantly of all. Just do it!
24 days ago I had an idea whilst driving my car, now I have a site that is generating revenue, with over 3,000 unique visitors and nearly 15,000 page views. The only costs so far are my time and $19.98 for the domain name.
Regards
David Long
PS: Some people on Ecademy think I’ve sold out by creating the site. Frankly, I couldn’t give a…(well, you know what I mean). But just in case you secretly have a curious mind, then you can keep track of all your favourite celebrity twitter users on CelebrityTweeter.com – I promise not to tell anyone that stopped by and took a peek;-)

I’m so shocked to hear about Michael Jackson, He will be greatly missed for his music and his gifts to the world. Michael Jackson was a true inspiration to children young and old. He had lots of friends that he never even knew he had, such as true fans that would never believe he would hurt a child. I will miss him and cherish his songs and memories.
